| In a
world awash with
all different
styles of wines made from the Merlot grape (from wishy-washy plonk to
the
ultimate in richness and complexity), our Satre Merlot is a
stunningly delicious, beautifully structured red
of surprisingly immense quality, especially considering the price.
And this is not “just” a
Merlot, either.
It consists of 85 percent Merlot and 15 percent Cabernet Sauvignon,
grown
in two separate viticultural areas to the West and North of Venice. The
Merlot grapes were grown on volcanic soils of the Colli Euganei
(Euganei
Hills), near Padova, while the Cabernet came from the alluvial plains
formed
by the Piave River, not far from the city of Treviso. According to
Burton
Anderson, one of the world’s top experts in Italian wines, the warm
climate
of this area favors “reds that can show marked personality.”
Together, they make a complex blend
of earthy
dark cherry fruit. We think you’ll agree: the wine is a real
winner!
