Maggio Vini
was founded about 50 years ago and is based outside Vittoria in
the southern part of Sicily. They grow indigenous
grapes--Catarratto, Nero d'Avola and Frappato as well as international
varieties--Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir in their 123 acres of
vineyards. This wine is made from 100% Frappato, grown near Vittoria, Sicily. Many winemakers consider that a real Frappato can only come from the area of Vittoria. Fermented on the lees for 15 days in temperature controlled tanks, followed by 1 month in steel tanks and 3 months in the bottle. This preserves the fresh fruity characterisrtic of the grape in the wine. Rappatu is local Sicilian dialcet name for Frappato. Tasting Notes: Fresh and fragrant with vibrant aromas and flavors of red berry fruit. This wine is medium bodied, dry, and has good acidity and light tannins. Pair it lightly chilled with cheese or pasta, or cellar termparature with white meats. : |
